Chinese judoists out of men's 81kg group finals
(Beijing, November 16) After the men's 81kg preliminaries of the 2007 Beijing Judo Open this afternoon, none of the Chinese competitors survived for the group finals but had to place their hopes on the repechage for bronze medals.
The men's 81kg category drew judoists from Korea, Italy, Hong Kong China, France, Russia, Japan, Mongolia, Romania and host China, including such strong competitors as Antonio Ciano of Italy and Takashi Ono of Japan. China has sent a number of judoists to the event but they were all eliminated in vying for a top position in their respective groups and had to miss the group finals for gold and silver medals.
Judging by the matches the young Chinese competitors still have much to learn from their foreign counterparts through major international tournaments, in both techniques and physical abilities.
