Referee president J. C. Barcos: It will be a perfect event
Beijing, November 13 -- After the IJF (International Judo Federation) Referee Seminar, NS had an interview with the referee president Juan Carlos Barcos.
Mr. Barcos became a referee in the 1980s, and the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games will be his eighth Olympic Games. As the referee president of the 2007 Beijing Judo Open, he looked excited when talking about the tournament as well as the 2008 Olympic Games.
Before the referee seminar, Mr. Barcos had made an inspection tour of the University of Science and Technology Beijing Gymnasium, venue for the Beijing Open. He seemed very satisfied with the venue, saying that the gymnasium is gorgeous and everything is well prepared like the Olympic Games will be held the following day. He expressed his thanks to the Chinese government and all Chinese judo workers for an incredible job they have done for the upcoming event.
This is not Barcos' first time in Beijing. "I came to Beijing at different times, and I really like Beijing because the people here are so kind, and in the city you can find everything that you want, and you can find some incredible places."
"Beijing is developing faster. A few years ago, it was really splendid, and this time I realize everything is moving faster for the Olympic Games, and I think there is enough time for the Chinese people to prepare for the Olympics for sure!"
Mr. Barcos talked about his confidence in Beijing's Olympic Games. "I think China will show the world their resolution, and quality of the people, and I think the Beijing Games will serve as a window to show how the host country is progressing for the future. I hope the Beijing Olympic Games will be the best ever."
The Beijing Judo Open will be held on November 15-16. The IJF official believed it would be a perfect tournament prior to the Beijing Olympic Games.
