The University of Science and Technology Beijing Gymnasium is located on the principal axis of the campus, adjacent to the fourth North Ring with convenient transportation access.

The Gymnasium will hold judo and taekwondo events in the XXIX Olympic Games and wheelchair basketball and wheelchair rugby in the XIII Paralympics. It has a floor area of 24662 square meters with 8012 seats.

The design of the gym integrates all the concepts of Beijing Olympics--Cultural Olympics, Technology Olympics and Green Olympics. Figuring as the belt in the judo and taekwondo sports and appearing with the regular and rhythmical changes, the gym embodies both power and exquisite beauty, which represents the Chinese culture of harmony and flexibility. Its ruby red metal-light wall is consistent with the campus culture, a university which is greatly honored as the cradle for talents on iron and steel.

As to the post-games use, the Gym will hold large-scale indoor competitions such as Judo, Taekwondo and so on. It will also serve as a comprehensive indoor center for various sports contests, teaching, swimming, fitness training, conference and arts show.

2.2 Competition Facilities

The University of Science and Technology Beijing Gymnasium is equipped with rich facility resources and accommodates all kinds of functional rooms for the competition including those containing competition-related equipment such as screen, sound control, lighting control, commentary, scoring and timing, and monitoring. There is also a high-quality facility maintenance team which is capable of solving various unpredictable risks during the competition.

2.3 Services

The University of Science and Technology Beijing Gymnasium provides a great range of services such as information counseling, catering, transport, communication, language, guiding, souvenir sales etc. This will sufficiently meet the needs of different constituent groups of competition, media, spectators and sponsors etc.
